I'm Loving Gloria Vanderbilt

Let me start by saying I can't believe it's been 8 days since I posted!
I have been so busy I just don't know what to do with myself!
Working, working and more working!
And doing a little entertaining with Rebecca and Donna!
I'll be posting about our visit in the next post!

Till then, meet Gloria Vanderbilt!

Yesterday I sat down for a couple of minutes before I went to work and turned on the TV.
I don't usually watch any kind of talk shows,
but when the TV came on, the show Anderson (Cooper) was on.
And he was talking to this lovely lady.
I realized it was Gloria Vanderbilt and it peaked my interest!
Then Anderson blew my mind when had called her mom!
Yes, Gloria Vanderbilt is Anderson Coopers mother!
Of course, I'm sure most of you already know this, but I'm a little slow!
Her story is inspiring and tragic at the same time!
She is a talented designer, writer (12 books) and a artist!

Anderson said when he was young they moved every 4 years.
But, during the four years she completely redecorated every 2 years!
Now she stays put but changes her apartment around every 3 months, even repainting!
I knew I liked this woman the moment I laid eyes on her!

Anderson went to her apartment with a video camera and shot some footage!
The moment he walked through the door what was the first thing he zoomed in on?
Wait for it....................!
A DOLL HEAD ON A STACK OF BOOKS!!
I just about fell out of my chair!
But, after all she is an artist!
This is one of her art boxes!
Love it!
I know most of you think I'm strange because I love doll heads and doll parts.
But what can I say!
I'm not the only one!

The only advise she ever gave her son was:
Follow your bliss!
She really is a remarkable woman!
She has a web site if you are intrigued!

All photos came from Gloria's web site.

Don't forget, the show at
The Vintage Market Place
is swiftly approaching!
Check out their blog to see all the
exciting dealers that will be attending!

Wasn't that a great show, it must have been a repeat of the show I saw in the fall, I knew that was his Mom, but never realized besides a designer that she was an Artist too, Loved that interview, very inspiring... isn't she also like 83 ~ I sure hope I am that together when I am that age~ Hope your having a wonderful new year.

OMGosh- I am so sorry I missed that show. I did NOT know that she was his mother. I sue like her spunk and attitude.

I don't think you're weird at all for liking doll heads...so did my mother. I'm thinking it was her way of imagining my head on a plate (just a thought I had!;>) xo Diana

I'm just smitten with Anderson and his Mom... Is he the cutest or what? Love him. His honesty is what makes him so adorable. He's real. Watch his show everyday... okay it's recorded. Gotta have my Anderson fix. Hope you'll come on over and visit with me....always welcome. xoso Sandy

I'm so sad I missed that episode but he has had her on before so hopefully he will again. I found out a couple of years ago that he was GV's son and I was equally shocked. I read a couple of biographies on Gloria's life when I was a teenager and she really did have a rough time. If you're a reader I highly recommend "Once Upon a Time" which was written by Gloria herself. Her mom spent her life going to parties then sleeping until noon the following day while Gloria was always under someone else's care...very sad for her:(

You know what? I didn't know that she was Anderson Cooper's Mom either!! I loved your post, and although their are times that doll heads can creep me out, I love them too! Thanks for the great post!!

Take care, Sue

Doll head on books are you kidding! That is great. Already liked her because she is Anderson's mom, but now she has moved up higher in my book.

I knew she was his mother, but I respect him so much for never using that info to further his career. Says a lot about him...and her.
I think she is a remarkable woman and I rocked that swan on my butt many a night on the dance floor. Thanks Gloria for the best jeans evah!

Oh I'm so glad to hear that you saw that show too TOT, because I thought of you the minute I saw the doll heads and bare baby dolls in here beautiful home!!!!!!! That is so funny that you were watching too :-)
Didn't you just love how much Anderson talked with so much love and pride for her? I love both of them even more now (yes, I knew they were mother and son, because I saw them on Oprah once) I thought it was so cute that she has a life size cut-out of Anderson in her home. So funny!
sending hugs...
